"I have undertaken a very difficult task as a personal challenge to learn Mandarin and Pinyin. I went through great lengths to find a suitable Laoshi (teacher) and Chee-lan Lo has the right techniques. She makes the hard seem easy and with practice both on pronunciations and reading, she makes sure I understand before proceeding to the next levels. Also, If I might add, I started on private lessons then I switched over to a class. The latter proved to be very helpful as the in-class interaction is much more practical. "Chee Lan customizes her materials to suit my needs. Even though I already speak Cantonese, there are many sounds and tones in Mandarin that do not exist in my mother tongue. They seem impossible to distinguish or pronounce. Chee Lan makes it easy for me by associating the sounds together. She is extremely patient and flexible, but systematic at the same time. I was able to do ‘PinYin’ instantly and in a matter of months, I was able to converse in Mandarin.
